Does he like me or not?

I really like this guy...like a lot. I've known him since 7th grade,(and I've had a crush on him in the beginning of 7th grade) but now we're in 8th grade (13, going on 14 years old) and things seem different. I've liked him for a year now. I have history with this guy and I sit behind him in this class as well. Sometimes he's super nice to me, and other days he's a complete @$$hole. And he only acts like this towards me...

He has an older fraternal twin brother (which I get along with most of the time, but have no classes with him this year). And my best friend who has three classes with the guy I like and with his brother says that they both like me. A lot of my other friends have joined in on this and even some girls and guys that are in my classes with them say the same thing as well.

I don't know if they're either acting like this just to make fun of me (because it sadly is pretty obvious I like the guy they're teasing me about) or if they're telling the truth. My best friend (who has the three classes with the two brothers) says that they talk about me a lot and that the guy I like even admitted he liked me back. She even asked him herself and he responded (stuttering and blushing), "What??? Oh...I like her, a lot. But as a friend!!! Friend!!! Um...she hugs me too much! and...and...uh...she...she's can be annoying sometimes! and.........weird! and....uh...um." and another time she asked him again, this time being more specific asking if he "like like liked me". (he was with his brother and other friend at this time).

At first, he was shocked when she asked him and then his older brother nudged him and raised his eyebrows suggestively which resulted into him blushing and stuttering saying this, "Yes I like her, no I don't, yes I do" sort of thing.
