Advice on Love, Crushes, and More! Question

Meaning to this text?

So I texted the guy I like, and told him I liked him. He took a whole day to respond (24 hours) and then he told me;

"Look [insert name here] you're a nice girl. I just can't handle a relationship right now yet alone associate with any girls. I have some things of my own I need to deal with before I even begin to "talk" to any girls. I hope you understand. I just need space."

So... he fully rejected me didn't he? My friends kept telling me that he liked me, but after that text, I don't really think so. So... does he like me? I doubt it, since he didn't say he wanted to "still be friends". But what does this text mean?

Any guy that makes that statement: "I just can't handle a relationship right now yet alone associate with any girls," is an ass. He's asking for space because he doesn't want to be tied down to one girl......I honestly feel like this guy was not your friend in the first place; he's not worth your time.
