Yep. That's right. If the BLM keeps rounding up wild horses at this pace, there won't be any mustangs to speak of in a decade or two.
Mustangs in America used to be plentiful. Millions of them ran all across the country. Yes. Across the WHOLE country. But, over the years, mustangs have tragically lost their homes, and the mustang population dropped dramatically.
It may seem weird to us, to picture mustangs all across the country, from New York, to Virginia, to Wisconsin, to the west where they live today. But that's becuase for as long as we can remember, they were only in the west. And it's getting worse. Every year, mustang government lands are cut down becuase of the building of houses, oil lands, and other unnecessary things that we already have.
Thousands of mustangs are capured each year, and many end up sluatered for dog food (But it's domestic as well as wild horses that this happens to sadly). In the about the 1930s-1940s, a girl known as Wild Horse Annie, fought long and hard to end horse sluaghter. It was her life's project. And she indeed successed, but as we see now, Wild Horse Annie's efforts were thrown away like last night's meatloaf. Will the BLM and the people complaining about too many wild horses ever grow up and allow mustangs to live the life they deserve, round-up and sluaghter free? We can only hope.
