i ask because im writing an expansion that takes place in the yellowstone area and i want to know if it takes place when there are plenty of wolves in the country

the expansion talks about canine "empires" and empires must be big, right? so, it wont add up if the series and the expansion actually take place when there arent many wolves in the US
