Are the Gossip Girls books good or are they just another trashy teen series?

Cuz i've been planning to read them but i want to be sure that they're good before i start reading:)

Hmm..the writing isn't very good? Then maybe i won't read it.Cuz i have a lot of other books i'm planning to read so i want this series to be worth my time.
