Well, duh. Not everyone likes the same thing. Of course you're going to get answers that say 'yes' and answers that say 'no.'

I loved the series (the books are much better than the movies, IMO), but I know nothing about your taste in books, so I can't say if you'd like it or not.

If you liked the movies, why not try the books? It's not like reading them is going to hurt you. If you like them you like them, if you don't you don't.

Take it from me, read them.

I grew up thinking the Harry Potter books looked stupid, too, and I never read them. About a year ago I read the first one and was instantly hooked.
I'm not saying you'll love them as much as I do, but they're well written, fun, exciting, fast-paced, sweet, funny, and have real heart. Give them a fair chance and I'm sure you'll like them, too.

Bin4ry's comment about not reading the book is really misleading. Their just giving one side of the story. I did too, but it's up to you. They say that you shouldn't read it, and didn't give very good reason. I mean, you could read a children's book and still enjoy it. Like, 3 little pigs (different versions)

It all depends on your personal opinion, its the same with everything some people like it, some don't. Personally i really like the series, and i would recommend it to you. But you might not like it, you won't find out until you read though. Give it a go, it can't do any harm right?

Hey red, being a die-hard fan of Harry Potter, I'd say yes. It's my favorite book series (dont shoot me!) It's smart, with laugh out loud moments, some pages are actually internationally tear-stained, some moments are touched with cupid's arrow and its just a roller coaster. You can keep track of it, and JK is amazing. I say go for it.

Bin4ry said:
In my opinion, no. The books are merely too childish, writing-wise; how they got so popular with the older crowd, I'll never know--the books feel like they read at a fourth grade level. Continuing on, the story isn't anything original or innovative--JKR just rehashes the same things as fantasy writers before her.

Plus, it doesn't help that it feels like she copied most of the settings and character personalities from the Worst Witch (a children's book series that I liked when I was younger). Just sayin'.
(The movies are alright, though. Go figure.)

If you want original or unique stories about wizards, go read the Discworld series. Now *those* are good. But I must warn you: they're addicting. ;)

I think you should read them to make your own opinion about them! I started to read them when I was 12 so I can't say that it's not childish or anything because it was a long time ago!
And I actually read Twilight and seriously it's an interesting book in a way there are a lot of good idea developed in here but the author didn't use them at best and the girl Bella is kind of irritating and really stupid most of the time!
