It's a light novel that was translated into English from Japanese, called The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It's about a girl named Haruhi Suzumiya who has the power to change the world just by wishing for it to change and doesn't even know it. There are many guesses as to what she is. A group of ESPers believes that she is God, a group of aliens believe that she is a disruption in the evolution process, and a group of time travelers think she's a glitch in reality. Whenever she becomes bored, she creates an area called Closed Space, which an accurate reproduction of our world, except it fits all of Haruhi's wishes. The only way to keep this from happening is to keep Haruhi entertained, and this task falls under the responsibility of Kyon, a regular high school boy, Itsuki Koizumi, an ESPer, Yuki Nagato, an alien, and Mikuru Asahina, the timid time traveler.
I loved this series, and I suggest you check it out! The last book just came out, and it ROCKS!
