Books to Read Question

Anyone here read 'Little Women'?

My mom bought it for me and told me it was a good book. Since I prefer science fiction books over those kind of books (and I'm not likely to read it willingly), I wanted to know what you Fanpoppers thought of it. Is it good? Should I read it?

I read Little Women. I'm like you, I don't really like that kind of book. I thought of it as cute. It definitely isn't in my top 50. I was kind of bored reading it. Again... it's cute. I read it to my younger sister and she loved it. I think you just have to enjoy that kind of book to really get into it.

I'm going to be honest, I did not like this book, but then I am not a fan of 'sad' books and this book was very sad to me. I do have a close friend who loves this as her favorite book. It's the story of four sisters growing up and it hits some important life lessons on poverty vs wealth, maturity, sibling rivalry. It was published in 1868 and because of the different style of writing back then, it was not an easy read for me. Louisa May Alcott had a rough life and a lot of tragedy, which, in my opinion, shows up in her writing. If you don't mind melancholy and if you can adjust to the style, then you may like this book.
