Why does the classical stereotype bookworm wear glsses?

I think it might be because they think we read so much that we need glasses to help us see. And also because people who don't read are stupid lol

Oh that's just a stereotype(that I resemble). There are just as many bookworms without glasses.

I think it's 'cause bookworms often are concidered week, so are people wearing glasses.

I think it's because of all the films with geeks who wear huge ridiculous glasses, so people assume all clever people wear glasses. I don't wear glasses. Well, I do occasionally cos I'm shortsighted, but not for reading.

Because we read so much, and we try to read in the dark, and while in the car, and before long, our eyes get screwed up and we need glasses. lol. Not me!!! I do alls that stuff and Imma 20/20. I know cause the docter told me that just last week lol

Reading glasses I think. I think the glasses are reading glasses.

Also, nerds read a lot, and you're considered a nerd if you wear those big glasses (personally I like them), so its just another stupid stereotype.

Because today's media wants you to think that cool kids don't read. The media is trying to sell the idea that cool kids get drunk, or play varsity sports, or are cheerleaders, and often fit very well into their gender-stereotype, and are attractive, and are never too smart, because smarts are unattractive. It's all quite silly, really. I never take today's media too seriously.

By the way, I don't wear glasses, and I love reading :)
