this is part of my book that i wrote... tell me how it is...
Rulers of Darkness
I sat there, watching, waiting, listening for the sound of Abigail calling me. She didn't, she just stood outside my door letting me cool off.
I smiled, I'd wait for her to decide to talk to me, patience was one of my best abilities. Of course, I had to learn patience while others were second nature, but time had perfected it.
Abby waited, but her toes tapped impatiently on the other side of the door. I heard her sigh and knew I had won.
An involuntary victory smile formed on my face as the door knob turned. Abby walked in quietly and sat on the bed next to me.
“Liz, what's wrong?”
I turned my head, she didn't want to know the story. She just wanted to know why I snapped at her and ran upstairs to my room.
“Eliza Marie, what is your problem?”
I could tell my silent treatment was getting to her. She was practically my mother and I loved her dearly, but in some ways, she was like a child.
Abby was vain and her feelings were easily hurt. She trusted me more than anyone else, I had saved her life, in some ways. She'd never say she resented my decision, but I always had this burning agony in the back of my head that always made me feel guilty.
I had one major secret, one that only Abby and a few passing strangers knew about. I'm a vampire.
The myths and legends were all wrong. The sun doesn't hurt us, our eyes just glow, there are good vampires, and also, some of us live with and around humans. I am one of those vampires.
Unlike most of those vampires, I don't try to blend in. Sure I keep the fact of totally hyped-up strengths to myself, but I showed off my looks. I was the most popular girl in the large school that I attended, and I was jealous of anyone that took that title from me, no matter how short of a time.
I smiled when Abigail let out an exasperated sigh. Again, I won my silent treatment and she would listen to my complaint. “What's wrong?”
My sultry mood returned and I looked into her soft, milk-chocolate eyes. “Greg's back.” Her eyes turned hard and cold and her lips pursed as I finished my story. Gregor Lark was another vampire. Once upon a time I thought I had loved him, but he was only using me to get to another vamp that had blown him off. He had also taken most of my self respect and left me hollow inside. Then he left.
My cat, Tina, jumped on my bed. She purred loudly, wanting attention. I petted her. Sometimes having a cat was annoying, but Tina had always been with me. She was older than Abby and terribly conceded.
Abby pet Tina too. “Don't let it get to you. He's just a guy.” She wrapped her free arm around me and I rested my head on her shoulder. “His reign is over. It's Eliza time.”
She was right, I could feel it in my gut. I smiled and lifted my head to look at her, “Mom? What was it like in high school?”
Abby laughed. “Liz, I really wish I knew, but school didn't really happen on the Oregon Trail, dear.” I should have known that. Like most people in the 1840s, Abby had wanted a new life in the West. I had been part of her team. Pretending to be twenty and ready for a new life.
I wasn't a draw-back. Always the first person to help out and I never got sick or broken. I helped the others who did.
People thought of me as their own “personal miracle”. Even Tina was a big help, she kept the rats away and the oxen in line. With me around, there were also no robberies. I can't sleep. If anyone tried to take anything , I would break their neck.
Abigail had become one of my best friends. When she took ill with disentary, I lost hope. She was almost all the way gone when I made my choice. I would steal her , pretending to bury her and then she would change. We would go cross-country with Tina if Abby wanted to travel with me. We would find a home in the country with no Indians and no Settlers. Then I would teach Abigail my ways.
The plan worked perfectly. That night, I carefully carried her to a hiding place and told them that she had passed during the night. They believed.
Abby wanted to stay, so then it was Abigail, Tina, and me. Tina was good with change. Which was good since we moved around so much.
“Liz? Are you listening?” Abby pulled me out of my thoughts. She had been talking about her life before I met her. I knew.
“Yes, I heard you.”
Abby shook her head and patted my knee. “Sometimes I wonder about you.” She stood up and gracefully walked to my door.
As she was walking I called, “Don't think too hard, you'll give yourself a headache.”
She only gave one melodious laugh and stole out of the room.
I fell back on my futon and startled Tina. Her change had been funny, I wanted to try out my ability to change people. Only, I didn't want to kill some poor human for an experiment. So I used my cat. Unexpectedly, I figured out that I could change her. It wasn't hard to pull away, her blood tasted awful! She took a day to turn. Then she ate my parakeet!
I laughed, remembering the dead, bloodless parakeet in the wash basin.
“Liz.” Abigail called in a voice that you would use to talk to someone in front of you. “Tomorrow we are going hunting.”
That was all I needed, a day away from school. Away from questioning stares, bold looks, hording crows and... Greg.

The Mona Lisa
The Mona Lisa is one of the worlds most famous art pieces but at one point it was stolen by a man who thought that Italian paintings should be shown in Italy and not France so… when he was all alone in the room where the Mona Lisa was so he took the painting and stuffed it under his smock. It took a week for the museum to find out that the painting had gone missing. I think that ever since this painting went missing museums have more security then they did then to protect more thefts.
I think that this connects to chasing Vermeer because “the lady writing” it on the go and Calder and Petra think that it is not safe just like how the Mona Lisa wasn’t safe in the museum in France. I think that defiantly Calder and Petra would be helpful.
