Just tell him it isn't really working out, and that you do like him, but you just can't stand the awkwardness of it all.

I know you said you asked him for attention but you nee to pull him aside some time in the day and ask him whats going on? tell him how u feel and ask how he feels and ask what he wants but remember friendship is reallly important so make time to talk about ur friendship and what ifs? this happened to my bff and she did the exact opposite of what i told her (which was wat im telling u now) and shes enemies with him now he posted on almost everyone at our skool with facebook's page gross rumors and told them tht she offered and did things tht she would never do and didnt do i dont mean to scare u but i just want u to c how delicate this is so b careful i hope i helped even if only a little i saw my bfff go through this and it crushed her and i dont think nyone should go thro this Good luck (please post how this all ends up i really honestly care)
