why do you think she simply gave in and lay there, and didnt try to stop him? where was that kick-ass elle that we all remember?

I think because she realized that she had no chance, he was much more powerful. And other than their relationship, she had nothing to live for. He was all she had and she just gave up on life and stopped fighting.
