He did like her a lot, people! Just because you don't agree with some things a person does, you can't say he didn't love her for who she was and that they were merely physical.
He just didn't like parts of her, but he loves her.

I don't think it was only for her looks. Obviously they played a huge part in him having a crush, but once he go to know her, he loved her for who she was. Well, most of her, anyways. I STILL hate him though XP
