I swear, I'm not being biased in the least bit. I love One Tree Hill and 90210, but I find myself understanding the GG character's problems and lives more than OTH or 90210. This is one pick where I am COMPLETELY unbiased (I swear).

I'm sory for picking OTH, but just because I love GG doesn't mean that it will always have my vote. People in tree hill come from North Carolina and mos of them aren't filthy rich. Some have went through drugs, dating, rape attempts, deaths, alchool, school shootings, marraige, bullies, pregnancies, and more relatable things.

For example, Brooke: Her fashion store has currently been robbed and she's now taking care of a girl who has been dealing with not having a home. I guess it's because of issues about her parents.(It sounds like everyday life that we live with)
However, I'm not saying that everybody's stores get robbed and everybody has school shootings, but I've heard of schools that have been through things like this and people that went through things like this.

Gossip girl is realistic to because there are rich people and there is pier pressure and stuff like that. There will also be love triangles and love issues that will come and go. 90210...it's not that realistic to me, but it's entertaining.

I find it harder to relate to Gossip Girl characters than anybody else on these shows tbh. I actually don't relate to ANYone on GG all that well.

Leightonfan: I see what you're saying. I think I relate to Gossip Girl characters more is because they're teens that, yes, are rich, but still have tons of problems. Problems that I have had, that other people I know have had, and ones that I'm going through right now. Most of the stuff in OTH is relatable, but I just find GG more so.

And you don't have to apologize! It's your opinion, not mine ;-)

I relate to GG characters more... I think some people (not saying anyone on here, I was actually thinking of one person at school and some media reporters lol :oP) set out thinking "This show is about rich people. It will be pure entertainment, I will not relate to it." (bluntly put) so they just... DIDN'T relate because they never planned to, and therefore never bothered to become involved with the characters. It's only people like that who annoy me when they say "GG is not relatable full stop", because it IS. I think everyone's point's here have been valid, though :o)
I find GG most relatable because the "scandals" that happen do happen to everyone; like social shunning, peer pressure, parental issues, being torn between two loves etc etc etc Obviously because of the setting things happen that seem WHOA out there, but probably because the majority of people haven't lived in an environment like that.
Also, I find the characters more relatable because the show isn't focussed on it's storyline, but also building layers to the characters. There is a storyline that people that just want to sit back and watch the show will enjoy and be entertained with, but for people that like to watch the show then get in the characters head, GG gives the most opportunity for that and leaves me thinking for HOURS. Literally. I am thinking of incidents at school where I have spaced out thinking and said/done something stupid, LOL. The characters, especially two or three certain ones, are extremely multi layered, with so many sides to their personalities that makes them seem more real because they're not 2D like the characters in most TV shows.
Ahhh, I have a feeling this is getting long, sorry, so I'm going to stop there.. but I could talk about GG 24/7 given the opportunity and the right people, so I might jump back in, haha!!

although not in the last 2 seasons. Are we really supposed to believe that by the time we're 22 (I'm 20!) we could own a fashion company, a record company, have written 2 books, join the NBA, be a teacher with a music career, etc. I am fully prepared to be living at my parents decided on what I should take at school because I don't know what to do with my first degree!!
Oh right, their parents are all gone... haha

I do love GG, but OTH is more realistic, more normal life.
It deals with more everyday issues.
Especially in the high school years.
In GG everyone seems to be totally gorgeous and rich.
Even though im sure they do have some problems that everyone faces.

The common misconception that people have about Gossip Girl is that it's all about glamorous girls who are perfect and rich. While they may APPEAR this way, they take apart the characters, show you their inner flaws and insecurities, and personally, it makes me feel better about myself, because it shows even the girls that appear most flawless on the outside have problems just like me.

I think Gossip Girl is relatable for rich people. But I personally think that 90210 is relatable because it deals with the issues that go on in school everyday. Gossip, boyfriends, jealousy, and lying.

wildgossip77: I think all of these shows have some of that in them.

twilightlvr11: I don't think that only rich, beautiful people can relate to Gossip Girl. Like I said...
