I love Vanessa, I dont get what the dealio is!
I think that her character is so neglected it makes people hate her, she and Nate just need a good storyline and they could be
AMAZING characters. I hope they get a good storyline soon.
But I love them whatever their storyline
and totally adore V.

She's drop dead gorgeous and has A TON of wit. People don't like her b/c she messed with Blair...and she didn't tell Jenny of her relationship with Nate right away....but #1 she doesn't understand blair...you don't see her messing with chuck anymore, why? She UNDERSTANDS him now. And as far as the jenny thing? She felt AWFUL about it, and totally was going to throw away everything with Nate b/c of it. so...yeah. She may have messed up a few times before, but so has everybody else...so really? You're just too biased on your own characters if you don't love her. I love them all. Personal preference. ;)

OMG People wake up!! Vanessa is a pusher bitch! She blackmailed Blair, she almost had an affair with chuck (maybe they'll have an affair again soon :S) and there's nate... she can't be with nate... they're boring,awful and they have total different personality...and i also hate her personality!

omg, i hate vanessa!!! she is so boring, bitchy and annoying, not to mention completely UNFUNNY, maybe if they give her a better storyline i might hate her a little less, but i will always hate her!

I wouldn´t say I love Vanessa, but I definitely like her. She´s nice, smart, a good friend and gives everyone a second chance.

Oh, and as far as not "understanding" Blair... no she doesn't.
She's not the type to.
She's too self righteous and proud of being poor and not from the UES, so anybody from the UES she's instantly perceived an image of them that she doesn't like. In her second ever scene she makes the comment "Over priviiged under supervised trust fund brats from your fancy school", when she's never even MET any of them.
Her first dislike of Serena started when she saw her at the masquerade, and commented "Somebody's traded up." bitterly, and YES I felt sorry for her because I didn't know at the time, but still. It was mostly because Serena buit a bridge because she loved Dan that they became friends, Serena also can pull off the "I'm from Wiliamsburg! *shhhhhh* UES really *wink*" look, so Vanessa accepts her as being "one of them" (she WISHES!).
Nate she was harsh to the first time she met him, and WHY?!? Because Nate gave Dan some SAT study books because he'd already done the test, and Vanessa accused him of giving charity. He hadn't even spoken to her, and WHOOPS, she hated him because his shirt was from Brooks Brothers and not Brooklyn Thrift Stores Inc (if you see what I'm saying). It was only when NATE built the bridge because he was looking for a non UES style girlfriend for once, and Vanessa couldn't be further from the UES if she tried (which, she does).
Oh, and do remember that Season Two proved to us Nate will bang anything with legs, and considering he's with Vanessa pretty often, I guess he doesn't rule out beastility :o\

Therefore, Vanessa won't accept Blair because she refuses to see who she really is whilst Blair is proud of her background; and why should Blair have to succumb to slumming herself to get the admiration of a fugly troll whom nobody really likes?

She's blackmailed Blair with something that she KNEW had hurt Blair (she had seen her in TEARS over the same picture in the apartment, humiliated, then wanted to use it against her!!), and in 2x08 when Dan helps B, she brings up that whole game with Chuck, adamant to prove Blair's nothing but a heartless bitch (in her eyes, anyway), even though Dan (her BEST FRIEND) had found something good in her (Blair)... surely Vanessa should at least TRY to accept her best friends judgement, and mentally note to talk to him at a better time about what happened to her, and do a whole "This is why Blair's actually pretty cool" and "This is why I think Blair is a bitch" list of pros and cons (not literally sit and write a list, even Dan's not lame enough to do that... Rufus might be... but you get what I'm saying), and then work out whether she should try to build a bridge with B or just say to Dan, "No, I'm sorry, I just don't like her." and let Dan make his own decisions for himself on the matter.

However, of course, the frizzy haired muppet is incapable of doing that! Why? She loves herself and her poverty and reality too much, right down to the Ukranian landlord!

So, no, sorry... I don't like Vanessa (if you hadn't realised by now), in fact I would like nothing more than to steal her from the GG set, take her to a small island off of Madagascar and dispose of her silently, party it up with some lemurs in celebration, then come home to watch V free GG.
She just ANNOYS me.
Plus, everytime I see her I wish that I was the poor one so that I could work in a kitchen and scrub pots out with her hair like it's a giant brillo pad.
Oh, and her and Nate... nahhh, not working for me.

LMAO, Mel!!!!!! Okay, that was kinda harsh but it's not like I haven't seen you rant about hating Vanessa before. All the time actually.

I don't totally hate Vanessa because sometimes I think she can be okay, but in the long run I'm annoyed that my 3rd fave character of the book series changed soooo much. I get that almost every character was but TV Vanessa it's different. Unlike the books, she only 3 purposes on the show and that being a plot device, being Nate's love interest sometimes, and being friends with random people sometimes.

Vanessa was this awesome character in the series & I just feel they used her wrong. I love Jess so it has nothing to do with her because she's awesome and beautiful. It only has to do with how they wrote her character that ruins it for me. That's all. :)

I agree with you too! They made Vanessa so bitter in the show! In the books she was always joking and really funny.
