I think it's actually the whole "gossip" thing that makes it so successful. People always want to know the latest gossip and the stories told on Gossip Girl, while they are great stories on their own, are marketed to us as "gossip" which makes us feel like we are being let in on some big secrets which makes us feel special which makes us want more and I think that's what really sets Gossip Girl apart from other similar shows.
