In gossip girl Leighton is wayyy better like when she cries its so real and everything and remember that scene in season 1? where it was raining and blair reads out the letter she wrote to serena? yeah well she made me cry because of the way she acted in that moment with her voice and tears but serena was blah... like her cry {which wasnt really fully crying} looked forced and i just didnt feel anything lol but i love that scene because of how blair was!!

leigthon meester is an amazing actress .. seriously the way she potrayed balir !! and we all know blair went through a lot of suffering and pains !! Blair's character is more complicted than serena ..

I think Blake is a better actress. Apart from Gossip girl, she has done some great movies and her acting is amazing.

I disagree with OMGitsBrooke, i believe that her acting isnt that great compared to leightons, she depicts every apsect of Blair perfectallym whereas Blake has kinda made Serena, boring, predictable, and annoying haha.

Blake hasn't made Serena boring, predictable and annoying, if anything she's made her more loveable. But tbh Josh doesn't exactly give her the most interesting storylines either, she's always surrounded by boring characters like Dan, Eric or some new characters while Blair is with Chuck and Nate all the time - the main characters.

Anyway, the question wasn't about who's the better character it was about them, as actresses and in my opinion Blake is a better actress and I'm not only judging by her acting in GG but overall, what she's been able to do. I've only seen Leigthon in GG and judging by what I've seen so far her acting isn't that great. In fact I think she's a pretty bad actress. But that's what I think even though I know the majority of the people here adores her. But just like you disagree with me, I'm going to disagree with you :)

blake sucks as serena

OMGitsBrooke ,, you know I am a huge fan of leighton meester but I have never said that blake is a bad actress !! seriously if you are a fan of blake that is fine but you don't have to say bad things for leighton just to raise blake!!!

I think Blake because she has done other movies like Accepted and The Sisterhood of travelling pants. Leighton is a pretty good actress too. Both Blake and Leighton are good a their respective roles. It's just that Leighton plays a character that interests more viewers.(not me though)

I'm sorry if that offended you but it's still my opinion and I can't change how I feel just because you don't feel the same way. If you don't like Blake that's fine because most people don't but that doesn't change what I think about her and neither should what I think effect you or what you feel about Leighton.

Tasha1993 .. you know just put in your mind every interesting character can't be interesting if the acotr is not that good !! I mean leighton is not just good ... she is amazing in portraying blair ! blair could be boring and not interested if the actress just portrayed it bad !! you can see noami clark from 90210 ..her characar is ineresting but you know 90201's fans not that into her .. it is not always the same ..:)

I feel awful i made a horrible mistake!! I meant to write as their GG characters. And i think some people have mistaken this question. I meant who is better at acting (as GG characters), NOT who has more experience, because we actually dont know who has more experience, leighton might have gone to a really good acting school for all we know. But the question was meant to be 'HONESTLY, who do you think it a better actress as their GG characters' NOT who has more experience.

Also, from what im seeing, i think people are picking who they like better, not who they think portrays the characters better. Please guys, just be honest and choose who is REALLY, in your opinion, the better actress in GG, NOT who you prefer. Unless you prefer them for their acting haha

With all her dramatic faces and how she is able to start cry whenever she needs - amazing. I'm trying to do that and it's not easy and if I imagine I have cameras all around me... wow!

I think they are both great at potraying the characters. In my opinion I think that Blake gives Serena that likable quality that she has, she's very relaxed, funny, and cute and she gives that to serena in a serena kind of way. I don't know I really like her portrayal of serena, and I've seen her in other movies and loved her too.

as for Leighton, the first time I saw her was in GG and I LOVE how she plays Blair. Blair could be this villain that everyone hates, but leighton show through her acting the many levels and different characteristics that blair has. Blair is the most multifaceted character in the show and leighton shows that really well. She has made me cry in some occations (reading the letter to serena, when she's crying in her room for not getting into yale, etc), and has also made me laugh a lot with her dry, sarcastic humor.
So I pick Leighton because I think she gives a lot to Blair, and makes her the best character (in my opinion)

i agree. I think that Blair was orginally meant to be one of the 'villians' but leighton portrays her in a way that you almost understand why shes acting the way she does. I think orginally the writers were expecting everyone to hate blair, but she is the most popular girl character, she is amazing

I've only seen Leighton on Gossip Girl, while I've seen Blake in loads of other movies so I've seen her play a wider variety of characters.

i adore leighton, and i think she's a great actress, but in MY opinion i do think Blake is better.
I've seen both aside from GG, and from my point of view i think Blake's a better actress.
But i do think that Leighton portrays Blair well..and that Blake does get suckier story lines.

Being honest? Leighton is way much better at acting AND that´s why Blair is my favourite character!!!! you´re asking for honesty don´t you? cause being honest the only way I can stand Serena is when she´s with Nate otherwise... I better leave it that way LoL!!!

Leighton. Honestly I don't think Blake is good actress. I first saw her in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, I remember turning to my friend and making a comment about her performance that I won't repeat here because it's kind of mean. Blair and The Roommate's Rebecca are unlikeable but I was able to feel sympathy for them because Leighton gives them layers that made me see them as more than a cruel rich girl and obsessed psycho while I feel nothing for Serena or Blake's characters in Travelling Pants and Elvis and Anabelle. To me, Serena comes across as a cardboard cut out Mary Sue type of character even when she's given scenes that should make her interesting to watch.
