The reason why he wouldn't tell Nate isn't because he cares about Nate, but because he cares about Blair. He still has feelings for her. Some site has a spoiler script on it and his lines show that.
Besides, of course they'll fight over it. Otherwise the show wouldn't be as juicy as it's supposed to be.
