He was trying to make her love him many times before but she would turn him down and she just comes to the bar because there is no one else she could meet with, everyone left her and he was her last hope. He knew that and it must have broken his heart to realize that she really doesn't love him at all she just needs any support she can get. He was tired of being second best about everything, and once again he was a rebound. well since we know he loves her i think she loves him back. The only reason she wants nate is because it comfortable but not exactly TRUE LOVE. She will have to miss him not as a the guy she loves but at least a friend.
