If it goes on longer, people will definitely start complaining about bad storylines, actors will want out, and it will become like One Tree Hill[though I still like it, and this season has been great, especially the last episode, a lot of people stopped watching because of Chad&Hilarie leaving/bad storylines since S5/grown-up years began] posted over a year ago.

If Gossip Girl have 6 Wonderful seasons than it will be the epic series of all time, forever will be my favorite.
