IMO Nate and Serena were always meant to be friends.

So many things have changed since the pilot!It's obviouse that even writers' minds have changed since then!But it is obvious that the first couple they were rooting for was Derena!Even the opening in the next episoede was centered to them!Not to mention that Nate and Serena didn't happen untill season 3!And After they had mixed everyone with everyone!So it's a safe assumption that Dan and Serena was meant to be when the pilot was aired!But it's been 4 years since then!It would be disappointing and unrealistic if nothing was changed!Com'on!Where were you 3 years before?

you mean meant to be right? and LMFAOOO. um isnt it Obvious?! if we're basing this strictly off the pilot dan and serena have been meant to be since episode 1. they set the entire thing up for dan and serena to be together. the whole "youd go out with a guy you dont even know?"
"you cant be worse than any of the ones i do know" or something like that. i mean seriously people are just really bias if they think otherwise. and im like 110% positive that serena NEVER looked at nate and thought she wanted to be with him in the first season. loll she kept avoiding him because she felt stupid about what she did. serena didnt have those feelings for nate till just recently people.

NEITHER! They both suck now and should be put out of its misery like the beaten down, dying dog they made those two 'ships to be. Real men (survivors) are needed in these 'ships like Carter or Chuck, even. Fellas that don't rely on their looks to get by and don't judge others. Guys that don't waver in their feelings.

They way i look at the pilot, it was Nate/Serena. The way they looked at each other and the way they could'nt be together because it would hurt Blair. When Serena told Nate that she did'nt come back for him and he should be with Blair, it looked like it really hurt her to say those things. Obviously because she had feelings for him and she did'nt mean them. At the end of the pilot, it showed a heart broken Nate watching Serena leave with Dan. It clearly showed that their story was not over and possibly(to me) that she was leaving with the wrong guy. They had the whole forbidden love thing going on. To me it seemed she only agreed to go out with Dan to get her mind of thing and Nate. Considering Nate and Dan were kind of opposites, it's kind of like the rebound theory.
