I don't want to hit Dan because he kissed Blair. I want to hit Dan because I think he's a hypocritical asshole who is loyal to no one but himself. I haven't liked him since the end of season 1. First, he breaks up with Serena because she thought she killed someone and didn't rush to tell him, because she thought he'd go all judgmental on her. Which he deffo would have. And then he goes, "I'm the most understanding person in the world". STFU, Dan, and listen to the words coming out of your mouth. In that same scene, he proceeds to blame Serena for the fact he almost had sex with Georgina. "I got seduced by a girl pretending to be someone else, and you knew". WOW. "Got seduced by"? Neither Serena NOR Georgina make your decisions for you, Dan. He knew exactly what he was doing when he hooked up with Georgina. Besides, Serena warned Dan many times about Georgina. She just wasn't ready to tell him the whole truth, but Dan chose to throw their entire relationship to the wind by getting together with Georgina. And at that point, he even knew that her name wasn't Sarah! So the whole "I didn't know she was pretending to be someone else" thing is bullllshit. I'm actually tempted to believe that Dan hooked up with Georgina just to spite Serena. Like a whole "You don't want to tell me what's going on? Fine. I'll spend the night with a girl you have repeatedly warned me to stay away from. I'll show you!" move. Now, let's move on to season 2, shall we? Jenny was about to put on her guerrilla fashion show when she got caught by Dan, and he just HAD to tell Rufus. Really? How is Jenny going to hurt herself by putting on a fashion show? It's not like she's dealing drugs (well, not yet, at least). Basically, Dan isn't even loyal to his sister. THEN, Dan decided it would be a wise move on his part to sleep with Ms. Carr. I mean, WTF? Do I even have to say anything? Later in the season, Dan gets another bright idea: to inform Lily of Serena's plan to get everyone's money back. Yeah, how'd that work for you, Humphrey? Were you trying to get Serena locked up by her mother? Serena told him she was going to handle things, just like she told him Georgina was a crazy bitch. Note to Dan: listen to Serena. Just because Dan likes to spend most of his time writing stories that pretty much denounce everyone he's ever spoken to, does not make him above taking the advice of others. Another thing I hate about Dan Humphrey: he thinks he's better than everyone else because he wasn't born loaded. So, this was a ridiculously long comment. But what can I say? I really hate Dan Humphrey. I can actually sum up my reasons for hating him in one sentence: He is EXACTLY like Vanessa. Both Dan and Vanessa act all holier-than-thou and talk about their high moral standards, while in truth, they're bitches like the rest of them. Hate Chuck as you may, but at least he doesn't pretend like he's the angel of the UES. Oh, and one more thing. Don't assume you know why we hate Dan Humphrey. Because in all honesty, you have no idea.

yeah well all that was back in like season one and two, so if we're going all the way back to then it doesn't really matter what Dan did because none of it equates to trying to freaking rape someone! so Chuck still deserves it more and of course he spends his time writing stories, i mean duh he's a writer what do you expect it was only one time that he almost wrote one story about one person he knew that was horrible to him anyway and was a total douchebag but then he didn't in the end because he has a heart and have you ever written for a magazine or newspaper? because it's effing hard to find a good story! also he doesn't think he's better than everyone on the UES because he wasn't born loaded that's Vanessa you're thinking of and the only people he ever didn't like were Chuck and Blair but that was because they basically tortured him not because they were wealthy, he was in love with Serena and she was rich! and besides Chuck thinks he's better than everyone else because he was born wealthy so even if you were right your point would still be invalid and believe me he is NOTHING like Vanessa and you don't assume that you know why we hate Chuck Bass because in all honesty and as difficult as it is to believe considering it's almost the most obvious thing in the world, you have no idea.

I don't care why you hate Chuck. You're entitled to your opinion. Also, the story I was referring to was the one Vanessa published in the season finale. Ring any bells? You know, the one that pretty much insults everyone one he knows? And my reasons for hating Dan were from seasons 1 & 2 because I was trying to prove the point that I hated him long before the events of season 4. Also, considering that I didn't make any assumptions as to why you hate Chuck, please don't tell me to "don't assume why we hate Chuck". But I didn't post my original comment to try & start a fight about who has the better reasons for hating the other guy. I posted it because you made an assumption that everyone who hates Dan must hate him because of what happened with Blair. This poll has nothing to do with Chair or Dair, but in typical Dair shipper fashion, you just had to put in something derogatory about Chuck and Blair. Maybe if you spent more time actually SHIPPING Dair, and less bashing Chair, I would understand why you like Dan and Blair together. Well, probably not. Considering that they have no legitimate scenes, were never actually a couple, and the ONE kiss they shared was so god-awful it sent Blair running back to Chuck. Oh, another reason not to ship Dair: The producers had to throw Chuck under the bus in order to make Dair sound even remotely appealing. Yeah, there's a relationship you can root for. For Dair to look good they had to make Chair look bad. But Dair shippers are good at thing: manipulating photos & videos so it looks like Dan and Blair actually had a few meaningful scenes together. Hey, if I NEVER HAD WATCHED THE SHOW, I would think that Dair was actually a legitimate ship.

^ok i'm not getting into another argument with you, remember the last one that went on for about two weeks? so i'm really doing my best to keep this short and sweet since this is absolutely and uncondionally pointless but anyway if you mean that story the key words in that sentence are "the one Vanessa published, and remember how angry he was at her for publishing it? he shouldn't really have written it in the first place granted but at least he was never going to get it published and besides it's not like nobody on gossip girl ever does anything they probably shouldn't and it kind of is obvious why people would hate Chuck, you don't hate him fine but you must be able to see why some people do!? and please stop slandering every dair shipper out there when you're really only meaning to slander me, it's not like we're some whole steriotype that all do, like and hate the same things or something!? we're not all clones of each other, some Dair shippers hate Chuck, some don't some even like Chair, other's don't and FYI my Dair shipping has nothing or at least very little to do with my Chair hate, the main reason i hate Chair is because Chuck treats Blair like a doormat!! and Dair did have meaningful scenes such as the scenes where Blair smiled and was actually happy and it was like a drop of water in the worlds dryest desert! and their kiss can be intrepreted in very different ways clearly the way you saw it she ran away because she thought it was awful, through my eyes she ran away and back the asshole only to get her heart broken again! because she was afraid of what she felt ("they say we only run from the things that truly scare us"-gossip girl about Dair in that very same episode!) and besides Dair would've looked good anyway, Chair looking bad was merely an inevitability and also they are a legitimate ship.

I do understand that Chuck has done some awful things. I never said that he hadn't. & I'll try not to bash Dair anymore. Look, I really don't mind Dan and Blair as friends. I've said that before. I don't care that you, or anyone else, ships them. I understand that not everyone is going to agree with me. I just don't think that hating Chair is a good enough reason to ship Dair. Maybe you have other reasons, but I'm just going off of what I've seen. The majority of Dair shippers I've talked to spend most of their time listing all of the reasons they hate Chair, but none of the reasons they actually like Dair. It seems to me that a lot of the people that ship Dair only ship them because it's an alternative to Chair, not because they truly like the couple. It's not like it has to be Chair or Dair. But like I said before, I'm just going off of what I've seen. I know I haven't seen every comment every Dair shipper has ever posted, so this isn't true for every fan of Dair. I'm sure some of you have reasons to ship Dair that have nothing to do with Chair. I may hate Chair, but that has nothing to do with the fact that I love Dair. I think many people got on board with shipping them, because Dan is the first realstic love interest Blair has had in a while. That Colubia-guy and Louis are such props that no one bothers to get invested. But her friendship with Dan has not been used to prop anything so far, and it seems far from over. It seems like Blair is finally getting a chance to move on.
I've liked them since their hallway scene in 1.04. (So long before Chair was anything but something to sit on.)
Dan and Blair make each other happy, they understand each other. They call each other out when one of them goes to far, but they manage to do it without being unnecessary hurtful. Dan treats her with respect. They are their best selfs around each other.
They share a lot of interests (books, movies, art etc.), which makes them realistic. Their development seems natural and sweet. Plus, their dialog is funny.

For Dair to look good they had to make Chair look bad.

Chuck doesn't need Dan to make him look bad, jez. That attempted rapist has looked bad since the very first episode.
I think he has been one of the most consistent characters on gg.

Dan or Nate may have done stupid things or made mistakes, but there is a BIG differents between their mistakes and Chuck's.
Attempted rape and selling someone for property, emotional & physical abuse is just a whole other level.
