I recommend the Usbourne Internet-Linked Encyclopedia of Ancient Greece. Also the Kingfisher Book of Mythology, and if you're wanting fiction, I also recommend Halo by Zizou Corder; nice story and several of the characters are real Ancient Greek political and famous people.
