Lost Question

Do you like the whole flashing between 2004 when the plane never crashed and 2007 when they are still on the island?

Personally I do. Not sure why though.

I think its a great contrast to the island storyline. If you noticed, there's all these little 'easter egg' details taking place that were similar to things that happened on island but slightly different like:

~the US marshall getting hit in the head with a briefcase in the bathroom, which also happened when the plane started falling and the suitcase hit him in the head and knocked him unconscious.

~The pen used to open up Charlie's airway when he was choking was similar to how he used Boone's in the pilot.

There's a bunch more I'm forgetting at the moment, but I think the point of this is that things were MEANT to happen, though details can change the outcome will always be the same.

I agree with you OceanCoast. And everything is falling into place - eventually Kate will adopt Aaron... I think that part of the story is unfolding quickly.

Well i'm not as connected to it of course, because i we haven't gone through as much with these characters (and they all appear to perhaps be fundamentally different post island blowing up). But i'm gonna have to say yeah. It could thematically deepen some of the themes of fate versus freewill. So we might see how much influence the the island had on the lives of the characters, and i think it's possible we'll see some of the same things that happened on the island happen in the flash sideways. That'd be a cool way to confirm that these people have unavoidable destinies.

i do as it brings more mystery to the island and its powers, makes you think more about what else it can do

I do think it's a good way of giving some fans what they want. I think a lot of us wanted to see what would happen if they never crashed, so having these "flashsideways" does add something new and different while we still get to see what happens post-detonation on the island. I'm enjoying it so far!

This is a 'pick', not a 'question' as it is subjective. Put it in the right place, please.

Yep, I've just succombed to the inevitable. They'll never stop, so as long as the 'questions' aren't completely boneheaded they're worth answering.
