Paganism Question

Do Pagans believe in Heaven? Or is there some other form of the after life that you believe in?

I'm not Pagan, I was just curious though

We (or most of us) believe in something similar to the christian Heaven minus the golden streets and stuff. The Summerland is what we call it and the name is pretty self explanatory I think. Its the same as far as being reunited with deceased relatives and all the like.
Others believe in Reincarnation alone or reincarnation until the point when you've gather enough knowledge to reach the summerland.
And some believe there is no after life or that your energy simply joins the energy of the universe.
There are many other beliefs as well but these are the ones I'm most familiar with.

I believe in reincarnation.

If you are dead, that your soul returns into a new body (baby) to live life again just as long as your soul has learned enough and then you go to another dimension.

It depends on the Pagan (and which branch they fall under -- if any). Some believe in reincarnation, some believe that nothing happens after you die.

I, personally, believe in Heaven and Hell-like places.

In Asatru in general, there's several different Heaven-like places; Valhalla and Folkvangr (where warriors go), Hel (where people who die of sickness or old age go). Virgins to with the goddess Gefjon, and married. There's a place for devoted couples to go. A place for babies and children to go.

Murders and oath breakers go to Neiflheim -- a Hell-like place.

I believe in the Summerland, but I haven't given it much thought. I enjoy discussing reincarnation with a friend who firmly believes in it. Sometimes I wonder about that because of dreams that seems very realistic, but that don't express experiences I've had in this life. I think I just enjoy considering the possibilities.

Our "heaven" is called The Summerlands" and has very little to do with the tightassed judeo xtain bullsht storm that most others do. We don't have or believe in the Devil or Hell. We do having. A saying though 'Its your hell, go burn in it!' We have a belief its called the Outer Darkness. Nothing to see touch feel or hear for all eternity.

I see this question addressed Pagans, well I cannot say I am Pagan, since I do not follow ANY particular way but my own, I’ll share my own beliefs anyway.

I for one do not believe in an afterlife. I do have a very strong belief in reincarnation and in ghosts. I believe Heaven or Hell is the World as we make of it while we’re here and alive. It is what we perceive of our lives and the world around us in the now. If we perceive our world as Heaven then Heaven it is and will be when we are reborn, at least at first anyways. But then should we perceive our life and world as Hell then Hell it is and Hell it will be when we die and return. It will be the same. The struggle is to build and create Heaven in the now, or suffer in Hell in the now and in the hereafter.

In addition to this belief, I am also under the impression that it is also subliminal. Believe you are going to Hell or Heaven when you die and you will, this will be your experience until you return. If you return, which is also a part of my beliefs, and you don’t become a lost soul so caught up on that self-imposed personal Hell in death that the natural flow of the soul and the cycle of life and death no longer carries you. This I believe is when the soul becomes trapped and becomes a ghost. Stuck in its own personal Hell. This, I believe, is not an afterlife, just a trap that happened when souls doesn’t pass along with proper acceptance (or for other reasons), and get stuck in a black space where it lingers for a time before eventually fades away and dies. Yes I believe in the soul’s mortality, but only in the form becoming a trapped spirit or ghosts.

Well there it is. I know I explained more then the poster question asked and I hope this wasn’t too confusing. Explaining my personal beliefs in short has never been a strong point. I just like to share is all.

Heaven on Earth :)

Wow. It's very close to what I believe, except that I'm not very fond of the idea about a soul's mortality. But I don't know, maybe. But this is VERY close to my beliefs!! And you have quite the way with words. Put it up very poetically. :) Oh, and that picture... Now that's a true Heaven on Earth. <3
