Remember, you asked for this...
*clears throat*
Symmetry was not "created", nor would it have been "created" because people couldn't think of anything to put on the other side.
Symmetry is balance, and without balance, the world can't really do much. It's logical in both scientific and mathematical senses, even in physical and visual senses.
Your cat there, I hate to break it to you, is not as asymmetrical as you would like to think. The pattern itself may not be, no, but you take that away, and you have a basic, symmetrical form.
Math depends on it, too. That thing we call an equal sign? It represents, well, equivalent and balanced values. Perfectly balanced values, which is symmetry.
In chemistry, there's a thing called conservation of mass. You have to balance the equation, otherwise it's impossible, because mass doesn't just disappear. It has to remain perfectly balanced on both sides.
Symmetry is the epitome of balance, the thing we all need to survive. Of course, we can't really live without asymmetry either, as it is the "opposite" and all things must have something that is opposite and equal to itself in order for true balance to continue and peace to maintain itself.
Symmetry is one of the most important things in the entire universe, and you're... well, you're wrong to bash it like that, just as I was to disrespect it's opposite not so long ago.
