Hey guys I just listened to some awesome podcasts about the Beatles and here is what I have to say about them.
If you’re looking for a laid-back podcast but also trying to learn a little bit more about the Beatles, then this is the podcast for you. “Screw it Were Just Gonna Talk About the Beatles” is a podcast created by a group of friends who share a great enjoyment of The Beatles. Besides giving some important background information on songs, they give you an enjoyable podcast to listen to. This podcast is more for the casual listener than the Beatles super fan. The podcasts are relatively long at about an hour each, but they are great. While they do not have a background in music, they sure do know their stuff. The team goes through albums and gives their honest opinions along with miscellaneous facts they have found. What's best about this podcast is that they enjoy it and that energy spreads to the listener. They even surprise each other with some facts they learn which makes it feel like you are learning with them. If you want to check them out, you can find them on iTunes at “Screw it Were just gonna talk about the Beatles”.
If you are new to the Beatles you have to check out the “” podcast. They have a great segment where they cover different Beatles albums over the span of a year. The hosts Graeme and Rob bring guests on to the podcast to share opinions about the different albums. The podcast are all around 50-60 minutes which is a bit short considering every Beatles album has so much to find out about. For Hardcore Beatles fans I would not recommend this for you. While they do have some good information spread through the podcast it’s nothing you probably haven’t heard. They do not even scratch the surface when they “dig” into these albums. It’s exactly what they make it out to be two friends who talk about the Beatles. Some things they do well in this podcast though is the sound. The sound quality in there podcasts is really good and you should have no trouble hearing them if you decide to go check them out. While I’m not sure what kind of technology they are using to play the music it sounds really good. They cut little clips from the songs they talk about into the show flawlessly. They don’t yell over each other either which makes the podcast easy to follow and hard to get lost. You can check them out on iTunes at “A Year with The Beatles”.
The last podcast I took a look at was a podcast created by a father and son to pay a tribute to the Beatles and to share their love for them with everybody. The Podcast has only 10 episodes ranging from 1-2 hours each. This podcast may be the perfect podcast for a casual fan of the Beatles. The Father son duo rank there favorite Beatles songs from the album they are covering in that episode and then eliminate them until they are down to there final songs. They go on to defend there picks and play parts of the song and give some interesting facts. I found this an interesting way to go about making a podcast but it worked. The listener is not overwhelmed with information which is why it’s for a casual fan. They keep up the pace and make it difficult to be bored. The audio quality could definitely be better so if you are looking for perfect quality this is not the place for you. While the more hardcore Beatles fans may be bored by this podcast, I think Beatles newbies will have a good time learning about the different albums these guys cover in there podcast. If you’re interested in this father son duo you can check out their “Beatles.25” podcast on Spotify.
