Actually, no, it really was Hollyleaf. Leafpool found a tuft of Hollyleaf's fur in his claws, and at the end when she went in the tunnels, she told Jayfeather and Lionblaze that she killed him.

Actually, to me it makes perfect sense. Hollyleaf didn't want him to say that Leafpool was their mother, not Squirrelflight. She went crazy and ended up telling that same secret at that gathering. I know that all of the clues point to Squirrelflight, like how she was soaked when she got back to camp, but you have to remember that Leafpool finds a tuft of black fur in Ashfur's claws, and Hollyleaf tells Lionblaze and Jayfeather that it was her before she went in the tunnels.

i have yet to check on that one, but i believe you, still im having trouble accepting that squirrelflight is innocent, and it was a while ago when i read sunset.

Ok. Yeah, it was a while ago for me too, but I still know the most important parts, like when Hollyleaf killed Ashfur. I know that Squirrelflight came back soaked, but that was just supposed to make you wonder. It really is Hollyleaf that killed Ashfur. Look at every other answer here. They all say that Ashfur was murdered by Hollyleaf. If you find in the book that Squirrelflight killed Ashfur, give me the exact book, page, and paragraph. I'll look at it. But I'm going to keep saying that it was Hollyleaf until you find direct proof that it wasn't.
