When you first read the series, what did you think Will's curse was?

When I first read the series, I'd guessed by the end of Clockwork Angel that Will was cursed in some way. But I thought he was cursed to lose those he loved:
1. He was losing Jem since Jem was dying
2. He'd lost his family by running away from them
3. He would lose Tessa by insulting her and pushing her away.

Did any of you have any such guesses?
