Never had one myself. All I got is a Google account, but having a Gmail is *not* the same as having a YT channel. Not everybody with Gmail has a YT channel. Guess I'm just a passive youtuber: like to watch videos when they're already on YT, just don't have any desire of making a video myself. I'll just sit back and watch. Let's somebody else do all the hard work. Making videos is not my thing. I only like to watch YT videos, *not* to make one myself, so I don't really need a YT channel. I can rate videos, even without a channel. All you need is Gmail for that.

Okay, okay, you need to set up a YT user account first to post all your comments and likes or dislikes, but you can do it only with Gmail. You really *don't* need to have a channel to comment, or like or dislike any YT video.

YouTube only enables to you comment on videos if you choose to have a channel. So technically you fo have a channel, just an empty one.
