Shortly after he was born, little Cody Monroe was misdiagnosed as having a bladder defect.

Sadly enough, this misdiagnosis led to severe kidney damage and when he was just five-years-old, Cody underwent a kidney transplant; the kidney a gift from his father, Martin. Nine months after the surgery, Cody came down with meningitis and encephalitis. As a result, he was hospitalized for three months and put on a ventilator. Complications from his condition affected Cody’s speech and his ability to walk and move.
