I finished watching Utawarerumono today and it is a good series. It is very violent at times and there is death and gore aplenty. However, the characters are likable and there are happy and funny moments in the midst of tragedy. There are several fine examples of "War is peace" doublespeak reasoning like in the classic book "1984" The ending which explains how this whole world came about is a surprising twist.
